Reselling News: The eBay Apparel Size Deadline Is Live and Managed Shipping Reaches Germany

Quiet news week, so this is a short one. Two items, and the first is a date we flagged back in July that has now arrived.

The apparel size enforcement is no longer a warning

We wrote on July 19 and again on July 28 that eBay would start hiding Apparel and Footwear listings with unusable size values in August. August is here, and the enforcement window is open. Listings with missing or unclear sizes may be hidden until they are fixed, and sellers are blocked from creating or revising a listing with an unsupported size.

The number that puts this in perspective is eBay's own, and it is bigger than we knew when we first covered this. In eBay's developer notice, the company says 17 to 21 percent of US Apparel and Footwear listings carry a nonstandard size value, with listings created through APIs responsible for a disproportionate share. That is roughly one in five clothing listings on the site sitting in the blast radius. If you use a cross-listing tool, you are in the group most likely to have junk in that field without ever having typed it yourself.

Value Added Resource has the seller-side detail on which formats get rejected: blank sizes, "N/A", "see description", and anything that stuffs several sizes into one field the way "S/M/L" does.

What to do: open Seller Hub, filter your active clothing and shoe listings, and look at the size item specific on every one. Supported values are alphabetic sizes from 2XS through XXL, numeric where the category takes numbers, and region-specific US, UK, and EU formats. If nothing matches exactly, take the closest supported option and put the true measurement in the description where it belongs anyway. Your title is not affected, so it can still read the way a buyer talks. It is the size field that has to be machine-readable. A hidden listing earns nothing, and this is a twenty-minute job for most closets.

eBay International Shipping is expanding to Germany

eBay is extending its International Shipping program to German sellers, phased in from September 2026 into early 2027, with at least 30 days of notice before an account is switched on. Items route through a hub in Duisburg, the ceiling is 1,000 euros per shipment, the initial scope is sales outside the EU, and eBay handles customs, delivery, and returns at no extra seller fee. Value Added Resource covered the announcement along with eBay's Q2 note that shipping revenue grew at a double-digit rate year over year.

What to do: nothing today. Read it as direction rather than news you act on. Germany joins the US, Canada, and the UK on the same managed-shipping model, and eBay keeps pointing investors at shipping as a growth line, which is a fair signal that using eBay's own labels will keep getting easier and using your own will keep getting harder. The second-order effect is that German inventory reaches US buyers with less friction than before. If you live in categories where German supply runs deep, vintage sportswear and football kits and hand tools among them, expect a slightly more crowded search page a year out.

One of these is a chore with a deadline and the other is a weather report. Do the chore. Go clean the size field on your clothing listings this week, because a listing eBay has hidden looks exactly like a listing nobody wants.
