Reselling News: eBay Drops Card Authentication to 200 Dollars and Adds Bundle Discounts

If you have cards sitting in the two hundred dollar range, the way those orders ship just changed under you. Everything in today's rundown is eBay, and two of the three items touch how money and packages actually move.

Card authentication now starts at 200 dollars instead of 250

eBay lowered the price at which a single trading card gets routed through its Authenticity Guarantee program. The floor moves from 250 dollars to 200 dollars for eligible single cards in the US, covering both raw and graded cards across sports, collectible card games, and non-sport categories. Value Added Resource reported the change on August 1, and Sports Illustrated's collectibles desk confirmed that buyers should start seeing the blue check on eligible cards within days as the rollout moves through the catalog.

The service is still free to the seller. What it costs you is a leg of the trip. A qualifying card does not go from your table to the buyer. It goes to PSA for a multi-point inspection, then on to the buyer, which means a longer delivery window and a package you no longer control once it leaves. eBay also showed prototypes of redesigned authentication packaging with a snugger interior and a magnetic side closure, aimed at raw cards sliding around in transit, but that is a fall 2026 item and does nothing for anything you ship this month.

The practical move is to look at your card inventory and find everything priced between 200 and 250 dollars. Those listings just joined the program. Set buyer expectations in the listing, ship to the authentication address and not the buyer address, and stop assuming a card sale delivers on the same timeline as a hoodie.

Bundle discounts are rolling out to seller accounts

eBay is adding a bundled discount tool that takes a percentage off automatically when a buyer puts more than one of your items in the same order. You set separate tiers for two items, three items, and four or more, and the savings show on eligible listings and apply in the cart. The tiers can span multiples of the same item, different listings, or a mix.

Read the fine print before you turn it on. Bundle discounts cannot be combined with seller coupons, order discounts, volume pricing, or promotional codes, though they do stack with eBay funded sale events. When more than one offer could apply, eBay picks whichever is cheapest for the buyer. Partial returns get recalculated down to the correct lower tier, so a buyer cannot keep a four item discount after returning two of them. Rollout is phased, and plenty of sellers will find the setting greyed out for now.

For anyone selling in a category where buyers naturally take more than one thing, cards, kids clothes, small parts, this is the cheapest multiple item lever eBay has shipped in a while. For everyone else it competes with volume pricing rather than adding to it, so pick one.

eBay stops selling its own gift cards tomorrow

Small but dated: eBay stops selling eBay branded gift cards on August 3. Existing balances keep working and do not expire in the US, and third party gift card listings on the site are unaffected. Value Added Resource covered the announcement when eBay posted it, with the company saying only that it decided to focus on other ways to support customers.

If you have ever funded sourcing with discounted eBay gift cards bought elsewhere, that supply line closes at the source. Anything already loaded on your account is fine.
